Day 01
Colombo

When you first land in Sri Lanka you’ll find yourself in the busiest city Colombo. However, it will take some time to adjust to your new surroundings and comprehend how the city functions despite its major roads, the tasteful blend of colonial architecture, and contemporary living. Having dinner with the Veddas and taking a stroll among them is the most incredible way to experience the nation’s tribal culture.

Day 02
Kandy

Visit Kandy the cultural hub of Ceylon after leaving Colombo. UNESCO has designated the ancient Temple of the Tooth which contains Lord Buddha’s tooth as a World Heritage Site. Look around and observe the island’s appealing way of life. The first thing you might notice is the traditional Kandyan dance which features vibrant costumes and a catchy beat.

Day 03
Mahiyanganaya

You should get a taste of the traditions and customs of Sri Lankan traditional villages like the weaving and clay-making practices of the Panwila village. The traditional rice and curry dish made in the village is a great way to satisfy your hunger. Experience the Asian Land of Rice with Mahiyanganaya Village Day. Climb the rocky ledges to the summit of Knuckles Mountain for a view over the Dumbara Valley. This is a place where climbers can participate in a broad range of climbs.

Day 04
Mahiyanganaya

Upon arriving in Dambana Village embark on full-day excursions to gain firsthand knowledge of the ancient customs of the Veddah community. Join the Veddhas as they venture into the jungle imparting to them their ancient hunting techniques and explaining their way of life. You will be shocked to discover that the Vedis have invited you to their home after seeing a Vanni while exploring the caves. A spectacular BBQ dinner roast complete with customary Veddha dances will be the show-stopper.

Day 05
Gal Oya

Make your way to Gal Oya National Park, a secret bird and animal sanctuary. Satisfy your appetite with a picnic in a beautiful location while appreciating the park’s natural splendour, followed by an adventurous vehicle tour to view elephants, elks, and a variety of lovely birds.

Day 06
Gal Oya

As you proceed, venture onto a path that will take you deep into the heart of the forest following the advice of the village chief (A Vedda) of Gal Oya. It would be great to understand how the jungle changed from a hunting area to the thick forest it is today. Another option is to enjoy folktales and traditional hunting songs simultaneously.

Day 07
Gal Oya

Take a morning boat safari in Gal Oya National Park to see the park’s other side which includes its fascinating wildlife, crocodiles and birdlife. Attend a really fascinating cooking class in the evening at a local establishment. The class will teach participants the secrets of the cuisine of the area while allowing them to enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 08
Ella

Start at Gal Oya but soon leave and head south to Ella, a charming village encircled by world-class tea estates. You will also be able to embark on an early morning adventure to the Little Adams Peaks summit. Make sure to enjoy the 360-degree view of the Uva Southern Valley and Ravana Mountain during your morning stroll.

Day 09
